What is calibration?
Cal.i.bra.tion [kalli braysh’n] (plural cal.i.bra.tions): noun- Definition 1. standardization of measuring instrument: the checking of a measuring instrument against an accurate standard to determine any deviation and correct for errors.
- Definition 2. mark on scale: a mark showing one of the units of measurement on a measuring instrument.
Why is calibration important?
- Rugged working conditions such as continuous, extreme, mechanical stress through shock, vibrations and high temperatures have an influence on the accuracy and reliability of pressure measuring instruments.
- Product quality, operational safety, and economy are directly linked with accurate and reliable recording of the pressure variable.
- Even after one or two years of service, the reliability of such measuring comes into question.
Do your pressure gauges need re-calibration?
- Have the characteristics of your pressure gauge changed?
- Are the given readings the same as the measured values?
- Does the accuracy of the instrument still lie within the specified error limits set by the manufacturer?
